Bandol wines owe their name to this small port nestling in the hills. It was here that barrels were loaded for export. Bandol is now also famous for its marina. An internationally renowned seaside resort with excellent road and air links, Bandol is ideally situated between Marseille and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
Bandol is mainly known for its wines that were given one of the 1st AOP in France in 1936 producing amazing structured and with a great potential of ageing. 8 villages are able to claim the AOP located in the 1600 hectares of the wine region.
From the Gulf of Saint-Tropez at your home or hotel, as well as from Canadel sur mer, Rayol de Canadel, le Lavandou, Bormes les Mimosas or Hyères, your driver-guide and regional wine expert will pick you up in the early morning to begin this full-day Bandol wine discovery tour.
A family story, after leaving Algeria where their grandparents were already winegrowers. In 1961, the Bunans left Oran for Bandol. The most significant aspect of this family and friendly link is that some of the workers had followed the family to France. Some of their descendants still work on the estates.
Your guide will take you on a stroll through the vines to give you some information about the region, followed by a tasting of 3 vintages and an old vintage in the cellar. You’ll find traditional Bandol reds that are powerful and distinctive, well-balanced Bandol whites and fruity, flavoursome Bandol rosés.
Situated in the heart of the estate’s restanques, the Domaine de la Font des Pères farmhouse inn overlooks the valley and offers a breathtaking view of the Sainte Baume mountain. A real treat for the senses, the wines are accompanied by tasty dishes prepared by the chef from top-quality gourmet produce. Its beautiful terrace in summer lets you enjoy the scenery and indulge in a moment of indulgence in the fresh air.
