Harvesting in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez with your team,
Take part in the grape harvest at a winery near Saint-Tropez !
We’ll be meeting up at an estate in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to witness the most beautiful show of the summer: the grape-pickers in action and the tractors taking the harvest to the cellar.
Harvest in Provence,
Harvesting in Provence generally follows a carefully orchestrated process, to ensure the quality of the grapes destined for wine production. In the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the harvest often takes place between mid-August and the end of September.
The grapes can be picked by hand or by a machine. Most of our grapes are harvested by machine, because the vineyards are so large and we have to work quickly to avoid harvesting below the burning sun. The harvesting machine also makes it possible to select ripe grapes directly. Harvesting by hand, which is more traditional, is generally carried out on the smaller estates and allows a gentle, protective harvest of the whole bunch.
If you participate to a manual harvest, we’ll provide you buckets and secateurs, and here we go!
If the harvest is made by machine, we’ll be happy to explain you all about this machine and how it works!
After harvesting by hand, the grapes are sorted to remove any unripe, damaged or undesirable bunches. This contributes to the quality of the must that will be extracted. Next comes the pressing, when the grapes are taken to the press where the must is extracted. Pressing can be gentle to preserve the delicate aromas, particularly for the rosé wines so popular in Provence.
During fermentation, the must is transferred to fermentation tanks, where it can ferment with natural or added yeasts. It is at this stage that the sugar in the grapes is transformed into alcohol. During ageing and maturation*, the wine may be matured in vats, oak barrels or casks, depending on the style of wine desired. This stage allows the wine to develop its aromas and structure.
*If your company so wishes, we can arrange with you different times of the year to follow the evolution of a wine: from the harvest, to the blending of the wines, to the bottling, right through to the winter pruning of the vines. Of course, all our harvest experiences are accompanied by tastings, and an authentic picnic can be added (extra cost). All year round, you’ll have a great time with your colleagues!
.
Provence is famous for its rosé wines, but the region also produces quality red and white wines. The region’s winemakers attach great importance to mastering the harvesting process to create wines that reflect the specific terroir of Provence.
It’s time to taste our juices and wines from Provence,
During this experience, we’ll provide you coffee and croissants to get your morning off to a good start. Then during the tour, taste the grapes on the vine and let us tell you about the particularities of each variety, followed by a tasting of the freshly pressed juice and at the end a tasting of the wines in the cellar accompanied by a Provençal snack.
